My practice is open remotely to clients worldwide, across different time zones
The Neurodiversity Affirmative Therapist
I offer counselling sessions online or by telephone, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home or another safe, confidential space. Many people find this way of working more flexible, as there is no need to factor in travel time. Sessions can fit more easily around work, family life, or even a lunch break.
Working online or by telephone also means you are not limited to counsellors in your local area, giving you greater choice to find someone who feels like the right fit for you.
I recommend choosing a quiet, private space where you are unlikely to be interrupted. If others are at home, it can be helpful to let them know you need privacy, placing a note on the door can support this. I work from a confidential and private space and use headphones to ensure your privacy at all times.
Online sessions are carried out via a secure, encrypted platform and can be accessed on a computer, tablet, or smartphone. When working online, I am able to share resources or therapeutic exercises through screen sharing if this feels helpful.
Please ensure your anti-virus software is kept up to date; I will do the same. I use a paid Proton email account, which provides encrypted communication and prioritises digital privacy. In the event of technical issues, such as a power cut or internet disruption, I will contact you by text or phone to discuss whether you would prefer to continue the session by telephone.
Telephone counselling offers a different experience, as we are not able to see each other. Some people find this makes it easier to open up and express themselves without the pressure of being seen. While visual cues such as facial expression and body language are absent, communication still takes place through tone of voice, pacing, and pauses.
Online and telephone counselling can support many of the same issues as face-to-face work, though it may not be suitable for everyone. For this reason, I offer a half-price introductory call. This gives us the opportunity to ask questions, explore your needs, and decide together whether we feel like a good fit and what way of working would suit you best.
